The word "yoga" is derived from the sanskrit root "yuj" meaning to bind and yoke. Maharshi Patanjali who is considered as father of classical Yoga, defines Yoga as the suspension of mental modification or in other words concentration .
It is a system of Indian Philosophy which is totally practicable showing the means of emancipation of the soul from further migrations and union with the supreme being ; any of a number of systems of physical and mental discipline by means of which such emancipation is attained is Yoga. It is a systematic way of life ; it is an experiential science .
When yoga comes to lay men it is understood as an Indian system of physical and mental exercise, a slow exercise process compared to the western systems. some feel that it is a specific practice to get rid of one's physical/mental ailments like back pain, stress, tension etc.
Yoga is everything. Through the practice of Yoga one can achieve everything; balance , concentration, confidence, health, peace, personality, enlightenment and ultimately the union with supreme being.
IIAHS guides you to the ultimate understanding. Yoga should invariably be practiced under the guidance of a trained yoga teacher/Institution and not by books, audio/visual methods as there is nobody to monitor your practice for correctness or development or difficulties faced or doubts raised. Books and other sources of information are only for reference and knowledge. Once you choose your teacher follow the instructions given by him/her.
IIAHS has devised Yoga courses for everyone's need. The Institute has designed the courses in yoga with a view to help the modern man of the 21st century who is stressed, tensed and without energy due to the routine mechanical life demanding more time and work to meet the ends. Along with this, the automation and other kinds of work saving devices to make life easy is depriving us of necessary physical activities. The pollution of all kinds viz. air, water, sound, EM waves, toxic food products etc; are like adding ghee to the fire. Though many of the factors contributing to your problems are not within immediate reach to resolve, at least your body, mind, eating habits etc. are in your control.
Through the yoga practices selected, modified and devised by the Institute, it is possible for today's man to manage the difficulties faced by him.
Better Living Programme (BLP) is a simple Yoga course to come to an understanding of Yoga and apply in one's life.
The series of Yoga shiksha at three levels will enable a student to come to a deeper understanding of Yoga and the further level Yogacharya ( Yoga Teacher) course will enable one to impart the knowledge of yoga to students. |
